26 Apr Yaya Named in Best Of Africa 2017 team
Yaya Touré has been selected in the Best Of Africa (BOA) team of the season.
The BOA Awards seek to foster a better understanding of the continent, while celebrating the achievements of African footballers both on and off the pitch.
The team of the season is made up of players of African heritage who are playing in the Premier League.
In the event programme Yaya writes:
“The Best of Africa Awards are very special and highlight so many great things about our wonderful continent and the power of football.
“As a proud African, I embrace every opportunity to celebrate the achievements of my brothers and sisters on the pitch – and also recognise their work away from playing the game, through charitable foundations and supporting not for profit organisations.”
He continues:
“I am incredibly proud of my own work with UN Environment on the protection of Elephants in the wild, the Yaya Touré Young Leaders programme and also my anti-racism activities in football.”
