Yaya Urges Fans To Sign Petition

06 Sep Yaya Urges Fans To Sign Petition

Screen Shot 2016-09-06 at 10.21.37Yaya Toure has taken to social media to urge people to sign a petition calling for an end to the exploitation of an elephant called Lasah.

The petition reads:

Lasah has been forced to work in a logging camp, perform in shows including in a popular Malaysian entertainment outlet and used in commercials and the 1999 film Anna and the King.

Ten years ago, this elephant was sent to Langkawi Elephant Adventures on a popular tourism island in Malaysia called Langkawi. There, Lasah is used for elephant rides and lives all alone.

In July, activists exposed photos of Lasah chained on all four legs at night. This abuse must stop. Sign this petition to help Lasah get to a elephant sanctuary called Kuala Gandah!

Yaya was made aware of the petition by friends and immediately posted on his Twitter and Facebook pages:

“Please read this report on the abuse of this Elephant!!! Then please sign the petition. Thank you.”

You can sign the petition here.
